I saw this yesterday in our local news and thought back to when the "rumor" first came to my attention (read about it here).

The rumor started two years ago and connects the Girl Scouts to Planned Parenthood.

The CEO of the Silver Sage Girl Scouts Council, Shelli Rambo Roberson says the rumor has been fueled by social media sites and blogs, and for some reason, it's gaining traction this year.

Roberson says the rumor started at a global forum in Europe about the status of women in the world.

“Out of that came a rumor that there was some training given to girls from Planned Parenthood, and there is absolutely no merit to that,” said Roberson.

The rumor claims sexually explicit information was given to the Girl Scouts by members of Planned Parenthood.

“There's no partnership or interaction between Girl Scouts and Planned Parenthood,” said Roberson.

Really? Hmm...

It's unsettling to think that some of those in charge of interpreting and ruling on issues pertaining to the Constitution don't think it's valid any more. From Moonbattery:

As a Supreme Court Justice, Clinton-appointed Ruth Bader Ginsburg has the sacred duty of upholding the US Constitution. Obviously she would be expected to hold this document in the highest reverence, since all of us and all of our descendents are counting on her to protect it from erosion by the tyrannical impulses that motivate most bureaucrats. Yet here’s how she advises Egyptians on how to draft their own constitution (Al-Hayat TV, January 30, 2012):

“I would not look to the US constitution, if I were drafting a constitution in the year 2012. I might look at the constitution of South Africa. That was a deliberate attempt to have a fundamental instrument of government that embraced basic human rights, had an independent judiciary… It really is, I think, a great piece of work that was done. Much more recent than the US constitution — Canada has a Charter of Rights and Freedoms. It dates from 1982. You would almost certainly look at the European Convention on Human Rights.”

Context is important. If you are going to quote scripture as a way to jusify policy, you should probably make sure that it means what you think it does first. From HotAir:

Obama maintained that his call for the wealthiest to give up their tax breaks, he’s doing so out of economic necessity, but also in line with biblical teachings.

Er, really?  The ATF sent thousands of high-powered weapons across the border into the hands of the cartel, which resulted in the deaths of hundreds, including a US Border Patrol agent, and Holder is ready to act right now against the people informing Congress of what actually took place in Holder’s organization?  Well, it is accountability of a sort, I suppose, but it’s more useful as a peek into Holder’s priorities.

Think we're in bad shape now? Don't do anything and the debt incurred by the policies of the Obama administration will increase by 47% over the next decade.

The updated outlook, released Tuesday, found that current Obama administration policies will result in a 50 percent increase in debt held by the public and a 40 percent increase in intra-governmental debt held in the trust funds of entitlement programs.

“In CBO’s projections, debt held by the public is expected to increase by more than 50 percent between the end of 2011 and the end of 2022, and debt held by government accounts is expected to rise by nearly 40 percent,” the CBO report found.

As a result of this rise in federal debt, CBO projects federal debt will reach $21.7 trillion by 2022.

“As a result, gross federal debt is projected to climb every year from 2012 to 2022, reaching $21.7 trillion in 2022—47 percent more than its total of $14.8 trillion at the end of 2011.”

These projections come under CBO’s so-called baseline scenario, which assumes that all provisions of current law go into effect – including the massive tax increases currently scheduled to take effect in 2013 when the Bush tax rates are set to expire.
