Early voting shenanigans - Check your ballots before you cast them

Another update to this story, now that the election has officially come and gone.  WND has a list of election day reports from various states:

During each election cycle, news stories emerge of voter irregularities and ballot malfunctions, prompting volunteer organizations to fight what they say is rampant fraud, while many authorities and other organizations dismiss the charges as unfounded.

2010 is proving no different.

An organization called Minnesota Majority, for example, claims it found hundreds of ineligible votes by convicted felons cast in the 2008 election, possibly turning the tide in the very narrowly decided election of Sen. Al Franken.

But Dan McGrath, executive director of TakeAction Minnesota, told the St. Paul Legal Ledger, "There is no evidence of any sort of systemic voter fraud in this state. … There's barely any evidence of voter fraud at all."

Now Minnesota is a hotbed of controversy again, as Fox News reports officials are investigating an allegation that mentally disabled voters in Crow Wing County were coached by their attendants to cast ballots for specific candidates. The charges say attendants even filled out the ballots themselves for people so incapacitated they may not have even been eligible to vote in the first place.

Further in the article, reports from Kentucky, Nevada, Texas, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Colorado, Philadelphia, Illinois, Washington, and Wisconsin are also mentioned. Surprise

Aha!  An update to this story may explain some of what's going on.

The Democrat vote fraud already taking place in Nevada makes perfect sense in light of this revelation. From yesterday's NetRight Daily:

Did you know that the SEIU represents the voting machine technicians in Clark County (Las Vegas), Nevada? Is it any surprise, as we noted earlier today, that there was a voting glitch in Clark County, Nevada? The glitch caused Harry Reid's name to be automatically checked on the ballot before voters had indicated who were they were supporting. …
It is particularly troubling that Clark County has put the uber left-wing SEIU Local 1107 in charge of their voting machines.

From the county's collective bargaining agreement with the odious SEIU:

The County hereby recognizes the Union as the sole and exclusive collective bargaining representative of the County employees assigned to the classifications listed in Appendix A…

Among the positions listed in Appendix A is Voting Machine Technician, explaining why Harry Reid's name comes prechecked before the voter does anything.

You have to love electronic voting machines.  Already the tales from early voting indicate problems.  On a larger scale, like November 2nd, this would be a ginormous issue.  Remember to double check your ballot before you officially cast it!

From Boulder City, NV, there were multiple instances where Harry Reid's name was pre-checked on the ballot:

Some voters in Boulder City complained on Monday that their ballot had been cast before they went to the polls, raising questions about Clark County's electronic voting machines.

Voter Joyce Ferrara said when they went to vote for Republican Sharron Angle, her Democratic opponent, Sen. Harry Reid's name was already checked.Ferrara said she wasn't alone in her voting experience. She said her husband and several others voting at the same time all had the same thing happen."Something's not right," Ferrara said. "One person that's a fluke. Two, that's strange. But several within a five minute period of time -- that's wrong."

In North Carolina, the machines didn't pre-check candidates, they waited until the Republican party-ticket was selected before checking all Democrats:

A Craven County voter says he had a near miss at the polls on Thursday when an electronic voting machine completed his straight-party ticket for the opposite of what he intended.

Sam Laughinghouse of New Bern said he pushed the button to vote Republican in all races, but the voting machine screen displayed a ballot with all Democrats checked. He cleared the screen and tried again with the same result, he said. Then he asked for and received help from election staff.

“They pushed it twice and the same thing happened,” Laughinghouse said. “That was four times in a row. The fifth time they pushed it and the Republicans came up and I voted.”

Now that is super-efficient!
