What has America become?

This was originally published mid-2010, but I had not seen it before today. It's a well written summary of current conditions.

Editor,

Has America become the land of special interest and home of the double standard?

Lets see: if we lie to the Congress, it’s a felony and if the Congress lies to us its just politics; if we dislike a black person, we’re racist and if a black person dislikes whites, its their 1st Amendment right; the government spends millions to rehabilitate criminals and they do almost nothing for the victims; in public schools you can teach that homosexuality is OK, but you better not use the word God in the process; you can kill an unborn child, but it is wrong to execute a mass murderer; we don’t burn books in America, we now rewrite them; we got rid of communist and socialist threats by renaming them progressive; we are unable to close our border with Mexico, but have no problem protecting the 38th parallel in Korea; if you protest against President Obama’s policies you’re a terrorist, but if you burned an American flag or George Bush in effigy it was your 1st Amendment right.

You can have pornography on TV or the internet, but you better not put a nativity scene in a public park during Christmas; we have eliminated all criminals in America, they are now called sick people; we can use a human fetus for medical research, but it is wrong to use an animal.

Official "Operation #EFAD" Communique

The first of many that Bracken has published this week.  Go here to read them all.  The Enemies Foreign and Domestic (Kindle) trilogy is a good read.

Seattle Officer caught on tape saying he will "make up" the evidence for an arrest

You'd think they know the dash-cam is always rolling and would be used in any court case. Can you say "abuse of power" boys and girls?

My shower routine

So true, so true...

Maxine Waters is gonna socialize all the gas and oil companies

An oldie, but with additional footage I had not seen before. There's no wondering where she stands on the issue Thinking

Couldn't help but notice the others sitting next to her trying to suppress their smiles on that little screwup. Even Waters started a little grin when she realized it.

FDA really likes the idea that your body is a drug that they can regulate

Over at the Alliance for Natural Health, they have the following story.

The FDA asserts in a court document that it has the right to regulate the Centeno-Schultz Medical Clinic for two reasons:

  1. Stem cells are drugs and therefore fall within their jurisdiction. (The clinic argues that stem cell therapy is the practice of medicine and is therefore not within the FDA’s jurisdiction!)
  2. The clinic is engaging in interstate commerce and is therefore subject to FDA regulation because any part of the machine or procedure that originates outside Colorado becomes interstate commerce once it enters the state. Moreover, interstate commerce is substantially affected because individuals traveling to Colorado to have the Regenexx procedure would “depress the market for out-of-state drugs that are approved by FDA.”

I know I've said it before, but the Commerce Clause is waaaaay overused to justify agency involvement in things they should have no business fiddling with. The original intent was to encourage regular business between states that were part of a brand-spankin-new country. The idea that it somehow gives the Federal government the authority to restrict and regulate trade when moving interstate wasn't until the early 1800's.
